E-Pass Mandatory To Visit Tamil Nadu From Other States?
29 Apr, 2021 | Taxida
Owing to the rise in the COVID-19 in the past few days, The Tamil Nadu government has made e-pass mandatory for folks traveling from other parts of the country to Tamil Nadu. Unlike others, the travelers from Pondicherry don't need an e-pass to enter Tamil Nadu.
According to Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan, e-pass is made mandatory by the government to have adequate background data of people who traveled into the state. This is to ensure that it will be easier to track them if necessary.
Even international travelers are not exempt from this new rule. People staying in the state for more than 72 hours should have an e-pass ready when they touch down at the airport. Business travelers in the city for just 72 hours won't be kept in quarantine for seven days, and they don't need an e-pass for their short stay.

The passengers from the UK, Brazil, and South Africa are extensively screened due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in these countries. Apart from e-pass, the travelers from these nations need a COVID-19 negative certificate to enter Tamil Nadu. They will be again screened to ensure the result remains the same. This is done as a precaution because some of the passengers who tested negative at transit airports turned into positive when done again at the destination.
